Newt Gingrich will make a cameo appearance on "Parks And Rec," but he wasn't supposed to. While filming on location in Indianapolis at St. Elmo Steak House, the cast and crew ran into Gingrich.
"Parks and Recreation" co-creator Mike Schur, the episode's writer and director had a quick meeting and wrote Gingrich into the script.
"It was a completely random chance," Schur told the "Indianapolis Star." "But you can't pass up on an opportunity like that."
Gingrich joins Vice President Joe Biden and Sens. John McCain, Barbara Boxer and Olympia Snowe as Season 5's political guest stars. The episode, which will air in January, will also feature Indiana Pacers players Roy Hibbert and Miles Plumlee.
Series star Rob Lowe took to Twitter to share the news.
