The Return of Obi-Wan Kenobi?

The latest installment of "Star Wars" rumors concern one Mr. Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ewan McGregor, who played a young Kenobi in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace," "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones," and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith," recently said he would be willing to pick up the lightsaber once again.

"Yeah of course," McGregor said, when asked in an interview with Digital Spy if he would be open to reappearing in the films. "If they need me, yeah, I'd be happy."

McGregor has long held his time working on "Star Wars" in high regard.

"It was great to be involved in -- to be in that franchise and that legend of Star Wars is really satisfying," he told Moviefone earlier this year. "It's nice. Children speak to me about it -- before then there hadn't been many films that I made that children would have watched. I've always been very happy about it."

Speculation about the next round of "Star Wars" films has been widespread in the weeks since it was announced that Disney purchased Lucasfilm and had plans to make Episodes VII, VIII, and IX.

McGregor's current projects include "August: Osage County," and a role as giant-fighter Elmont in the upcoming "Jack and the Beanstalk" reboot, "Jack the Giant Slayer."
