After months of speculation, "X Factor" may have found new hosts to replace Steve Jones, who exited after the show's debut season. Word is that Khloé Kardashian and Mario Lopez are the lucky twosome.

According to sources speaking to Perez Hilton on Wednesday (September 19), Lopez and Kardashian have been locked in to host the revamped season two, which kicked off last week with new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato . There's still no official word yet from the Fox show and a rep for the series hadn't responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time.

But both Kardashian and Lopez have seen their names hit the "X Factor" rumor mill before, and judge Simon Cowell hasn't been shy about expressing his desire to get the Kardashian sister onboard.

"I know whom I would like, but now I have to get it approved by the network," Cowell told Ellen Degeneres earlier this month. "We have screen-tested a load of people. ... It could be a Kardashian. I think that would work. I'm quite a fan of not putting [experienced] hosts on this show. Because I think it's going to give it a different dynamic. So we have to find people who have a great chemistry, but Khloé is definitely up there in [the] running."

While the youngest Kardashian sister has virtually no hosting experience (but loads of reality TV exposure), Lopez is a vet in that field. He hosts the entertainment news program "Extra" as well as MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew," among other gigs.

And a two-host format wouldn't be new for Cowell. Back in his "American Idol" days, Ryan Seacrest co-hosted the show with Brian Dunkleman, who, like Jones, only lasted for just one debut season.

With Spears and Lovato now sitting alongside Cowell and L.A. Reid at the judges' table, the show is currently airing pre-taped audition episodes. It is set to go live later this season, when brand-new hosts will likely be introduced.
